New world’s highest lake found in Nepal
A new lake, which is said to be the world’s highest lake, is discovered in Manang district of Nepal. Under the leadership of Chame rural municipality, a team of 29 people, including representatives of police, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), recently visited the triangle-shaped lake, marked on goggle map as ‘Kajin Sara Lake’ in Chame rural municipality -4, Manang.
The elevation of the lake is 5200m and approximate length and wide is 1.5km and 600m respectively per the measurement of the Armed Police Forced of Chame with the help of GPS. Depth of the lake is still unknown. The local people unofficially named the lake as Singer Lake because it is situated at the northeast direction of Singar Himal.
As of now Tilicho Lake, 4919m is known as the highest lake in the world situated in Manang district. Once officially confirmed the height of Singar Lake by the government of Nepal, Tilicho Lake is going to be the world’s second highest lake.
