Panch Pokhari trekking is in a less-touristic area in Nepal. A very few tourists trek in this trail. Panch Pokhari trekking lies to the north-east direction of the Kathmandu valley. ‘Panch’ means five and ‘Pokhari’ means the pond. In English, Panch Pokhari can be called as ‘Five Ponds’ which are the sacred ponds.  These ponds lie at the height of 4,100m from the sea level.

During one of the major festival ‘Janai Purnima’ in July or August, many Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit Panch Pokhari. Janai Purnima is the festival in which Hindu Nepali people change the sacred thread. As these ponds are holy, people come to change their sacred thread or wear the thread for the first time. The sacred thread worn in this day remains with the people the whole year. People take a holy dip in the ponds before wearing the sacred thread.

The view of the snowcapped mountains or Himalayas like DorjeeLhakpa (6,966m), Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar Himal and Phurbi Chhyachu Himal (6,637m) is the main attraction of this trekking. The beauty of nature and the culture of the local people are amazing in Panch Pokhari trek.

Panch Pokhari trekking starts from Chautara in Sindhupalchwok district which is about five hours drive from Kathmandu. Tourists can explore unique environment and rich bio-diversity in Panch Pokhari trekking. It is an easy trekking with a 15-day package. Therefore, trekkers do not need more trekking practice.
