Karnali River rafting is one of the best trips in the world, especially for those wanting an extreme adventure experience in Nepal. Literarily, Karnali means ‘Holy water from the sacred mountain’. Karnali River is Nepal's largest and widest river with a length of 507km (314mile). It originates on Tibetan Plateau near Mt. Mansarovar in Tibet and flows through the Himalayas with outstanding gorges and tropical forests, remote villages and wildlife in Nepal. The beautiful Golden Masheer and giant Catfish in Karnali River add additional beauty in the rich Himalayan aquatic life. This river is one of the best rivers for fishing in Nepal.
Most of the area of Karnali River is in least populated region in the western part of the country, known as "Wild West' of Nepal. Karnali River has a series of challenging grade IV to V rapids takes you through narrow canyons and dense forest full of diverse flora and fauna. Seasonal snow melt and storms can lead to increase the river and create the extremes of white water rafting.
As Karnali River rafting ends at Chisapani, close to the Bardia National Park, we highly recommend our guests to combine their rafting adventure with a jungle safari trip in Bardiya National Park where we can see one-horned rhinos and elusive tigers, among other animals, and interact with Tharu ethnic group of Nepal.
