Tilicho Lake trekking is known as challenging trek in the Annapurna range in Nepal because of extremely inhospitable surrounding terrains and other geographical difficulties. The main focus of this trek is a visit to Tilicho Lake. Thats why it is named as Tilicho Lake trekking. Other major attractions of Tilicho Lake trekking are the eye-catching view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and other white Himalayas above 5,415m height, peaceful Thorong La pass, and the local ethnic people, mostly Tibetan origin. Thorong La is the highest pass on the Annapurna Circuit. The major ethnic groups to be visited in this trekking are Magar, Gurung, Bhotia and Thakalis and Managis with distinct socio-economic and cultural background.
Tilicho lake trekking lies in Annaapurna Conservation Area. Tilicho Lake, situated at 4,919m height, is one of the highest Lakes in the World. Tilicho rests in rough and wild area in Manang district in western region of Nepal. Thus, Tilicho Lake is less visited trekking area in Nepal. Tilicho Lake accumulates the glacial melt of the northern slopes of the Annapurna range and the Thorong Peak.
About 4 hours excursion on the way and in the Tilicho Lake grants visitors a great experience of real and naturally beautiful Nepal and people and community that are totally isolated from modern Nepal and the development.
Accommodations
In Kathmandu we provide 2 star equivalent hotel like international guest house with bed and breakfast. In trekking we provide attached toilet room in low lands. As we arrive to higher elevation it is difficult to get attached toilet room and single room in peak season. In peak season we have to share the room. But we try to provide single room if it is possible.
Foods and drinks
In trekking we can get all kinds of food and select from menu and can have as you like. We do not recommend to eat any kinds of meat that is carried local porters from low land walking with 2-3 days. In trekking region they are not allowed to kill any animals. We recommend to eat all kind of vegetarian food and eggs. You can have meat as you arrive to Jomsom, Pokhara and Kathmandu. You can get all kind of drinks in trekking route. We recommend to drink Mineral water, boiled water or purified water. Purifying tablet is provided by our guide. All kinds of cold drinks and beers are available in tea houses.
Guide and porter
We provide English speaking guide and some guide they can speak extra language like, Chinese, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian. Extra language guide is not included in this cost. On request of guest we provide extra language guide with extra cost. Our guides and porters are very helpful, kind and dedicated on their duty. Every day they pass massage to us about the situation of the guest, weather in Trekking.
How hard is to go to Tilicho Lake?
Definitely Tilicho Lake trek is a hard trek due to the higher elevation though there are hundreds of beautiful breathtaking scenery. You can make it easy if you follow some rules and regulations before starting your treks towards Tilicho lake trek. Most of the time tourists suffered from high-altitude sickness and tiredness. The high-altitude sickness starts from the height of 3000 meter or 9700 feet and you have to arrive Tilicho Lake (4920 meter) and Thorongla pass (5416 meter) to get Tilicho Lake and Thoronglala pass respectively. If tourists walk slowly and steadily with many breaks on the way to trek they can acclimatize easily and the trek will be easy. On the way to trek each 1 to 2 hours there are available of tea houses and tourists could have enough liquids and rest to protect themselves from High altitude sickness and tiredness. Because there are not many up and down hills. The trekking trail goes gradually up and only few places there are stiffs. If possible try to practice walking through up and down steeps, Jogging and swimming are equally helpful. Any exercise that is convenient to you and helps you to be fit is recommended.
How long does it take to get to Tilicho Lake?
From Kathmandu it takes minimum 8 days to arrive to Tilicho Lake and 5 more days to arrive to Pokhara via Thorongla pass. The difficult walk of this trek is about 8 hours from Thorongla high camp to Muktinath.The trail goes all the way up from Thorongla high camp to pass and all the way down till Muktinath. Tilicho Lake Trekking Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at the Kathmandu airport and picked up by the office representatives and transfer to hotel
Day 02: A free time till lunch and in the afternoon briefing about trekking and trek preparation
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Beshi Sahar (7,90m) and again drive to Danaque (2210m)stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Trek to Chame (2,700m)
Day 05: Trek to Pisang (3,200m)
Day 06: Trek to Manang (3,400m)
Day 07: Excursion day around the Manang village
Day 08: Trek to Shree Kharka (4,250m)
Day 09: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m)
Day 10: Excursion around Tilicho Lake and trek back to Shree kharka
Day 11: Trek to Yak Kharka (4,020m)
Day 12: Trek to Thorong Phedi (4,500m)
Day 13: Trek to Muktinath (3,810m) via Thorong-La pass (5,415m)

Important Information Before Your Trip to Nepal
Payment: Down payment: 15% of total payment is required to confirm the reservation.
Payment of the Balance: Rest amount can be paid in our office after your arrival.
Arrival Point: You will be met at the Kathmandu international airport. Our office representative will be waiting for you holding play card of the Nepal Mountain Lovers Treks and Expedition. In case of your change plan, please let us inform.
Booking Air Ticket: If you don't have regular travel agent, please visit makemytrip.com, www.kayak.com, www.vayama.com. They offer you very good price.
Room System: Normally we have two people in a room. Twin bed or single bed depends on the choice of guests and budget. If tourists want single room, s/he should pay single supplementary.
Trekking Leading Person: Our trekking guide will lead the whole trip with his/her helpers and porters.
Currencies: USD, AUD, EURO are major acceptable currencies in Nepal and visa and credit cards also accepted. There is ATM facility in city area.
Altitude Sickness: Altitude sickness will start from 3000 meter height. Trekkers should immediately inform trekking guide if faced any problems.
Drinking Water: We can get mineral water and boiled water in city area and in some trekking places. We use water purification tablet or liquid in some remote trekking sites.
Laundry Facility: Laundry facility are available in city area but not during the trekking.
Visa: You can get arrival visa at Kathmandu airport that cost 25 USD for 15 days and 40 USD for 30 days. Please bring 2 passport size photos. You can get your visa from the closest Nepali embassy.
Orientation Program: Before starting trekking, trekkers are provided with an orientation by our office representative or trekking guide about the necessary trekking information.
Group Size: There will be maximum 12 persons in one group.
Accommodation: You will stay in a nice tourist standard hotel/resort in city areas. Normal hotels or tents are available during the trekking.
Foods: We provide breakfast, lunch, dinner. Tourists can get continental food both in city and trekking places. Food during the trekking might not meet the standard of your country.
View of Mount Everest: Trekkers to Everest region will of course see the Mount Everest. For trekkers visiting other regions where they cannot view Mount Everest, there are daily mountain flights which approach close to Mount Everest.
Travel Insurance: It is compulsory to have travel insurance.
Personal Expenses: It depends on your spending interest and shopping. There are some expensive handmade carpets, Thanka paintings, jewelries and handicrafts to purchase in Nepal.
Luggage: We take only about 10kg per person in trekking. Your excess baggage will be stored in a hotel.
Tips: Tips are highly accepted and appreciated.
Rules and Regulation
Nepal Mountain Lovers Treks and Expedition accepts your reservation under the following rules and regulations.
1. If the balance payment is not paid before your departure for trekking, the booking will be cancelled without any refund.
2. If there is war or the situation of the country is out of control and the country faces emergency situation before your arrival to Nepal, we inform you not to come Nepal and refund your payment. But in case of any emergency situation or war after your arrival or during the trekking, we will not refund your money. But we will try our best to make your trip successful and pleasant. In such situation, we may need to change the trip plan and itinerary.
3. In case of increase in government royalty and other costs such as the national park fee, you have to pay extra money.
4. If you commit any illegal act or disturbance for the safety and welfare of the group, our leader or guide can ask to leave the group without any right to refund.
5. If you have any complain with regards to trekking and tour please inform our tour leader or company. All kinds of valid complain are welcomed and processed with necessary actions.
6.You are responsible to ensure that all travel documents are with you during the entire trip.

Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival. Welcome by our office representative at the airport and brought to the hotel.
Day 02: Introduction to the guide. Briefing about the trekking and trekking preparation, including essentials.
Day 03: Breakfast. We begin this trip with 6 hours drive to Beshisahar (7,90m) from Kathmandu. The road leads along the mountains and thundering rivers like Trishuli and Marshandi. The green hill road is really amazing. Lunch is provided in a restaurant at the river bank on the way.
Day 04: Breakfast. Drive about 4 hours till Chamje (1,410m). The mountain road till Chamje is really wonderful. On the way a short lunch break. Your first trek to Tal starts from Chamje that takes about 2 hours. Stay overnight in Tal village (1800m).
Day 05: Breakfast. Trek about 4 hours trek to Danakyu (2,210m). In 2 hours pleasant walk we arrive at Dharapani (1860m) from where we can see the magnificent view of the Manaslu Himal (8156m). Lunch in Bagarchap. The trail goes gradually uphill. Stay overnight in Danakyu.
Day 06: Breakfast. Trek about 5 hours to Chame (2,700m) . First 2 hours trail is really steep till Timang where you have a lunch break. From Timang, the trail leads almost flat till Chame. If the weather is good, you can have beautiful view of the Mt. Manaslu from Timang. As you move ahead towards Chame, you can see the beautiful Mt. Annapurna Second. Stay overnight in Chame.
Day 07: Breakfast. Trek about 5 hours to Pisang (3,200m). The trail passes through the pine tree with amazing views of rocks. Lunch in Bratang. You can see the beautiful buck wheat fields and Buddhist ‘Mani Walls’ with prayer wheels in Pisang where you stay overnight.
Day 08: Breakfast. Trek about 5 hours to Manang (3,400m) through almost flat road. Lunch in Hongde. The faces of the very tall rocks and Hongde airport are the main attractions of the day. Stay overnight in Manang.
Day 09: Acclimatization and Excursion Day in Manang. This day is for you to get ready to encounter with the high altitude of the Thorong-La Pass (5,415 m) in the following days. Excursion around the Manang village is memorable. You can also some visit monasteries and walk around Chongar View Point.
Day 10: Breakfast. Heading towards Shree Kharka (4,250m). It is about 5 hours walk from Manang. In 2 and half hours trek, we arrive to Khangshar village on the way which is the collection of traditional stone buildings surrounding a large village square. Lunch in Khangshar where you will enjoy the beautiful scene of the Tilicho Peak and Bluesheep. From Khangsar, the trail leads gradually uphill. Stay overnight in Shree Kharka.
Day 11: Breakfast. Trek to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m) for 3 hours where we take lunch. The trail from Shree Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp is really tough and challenging. The trail is so narrow, just enough to keep our feet on. Stay overnight in Tilicho Base Camp.
Day 12: Breakfast. Trek about 3 hours to Tilicho Lake, the final destination of this trek. Excursion around Tilicho Lake for about 30 minutes. Trek back to Shree Kharka. This day we will walk about 6 hours all together.
Day 13: Breakfast. Trek about 6 hours to Yak Kharka (4,020m) Today we walk most of the flat and steep down trail. But for some time we walk through steep up to Yak Kharka. A short packed lunch break on the way. Stay overnight in Yak Kharka.
Day 14: Breakfast. Start walking gradually uphill for about 4 hours till Thorong Phedi (4,500m). Lunch and rest. For your acclimatization, talk one hour steep hiking to High Camp in the afternoon and get back to Thorong Phedi for overnight stay.
Day 15: Today we take breakfast early in the morning and walk about 4 hours steep up and 4 hours down to Muktinath (3,810m) via Thorong-La pass. Take a packed lunch break on the way. It is the longest trek of the entire trip. Stay overnight in Muktinath.
Day 16: Breakfast. Muktinath Temple excursion. About 3 hours pleasant walk to Kagbeni (2,800m) through all the way down trail. Visit beautiful Kagbeni village located at the bank of Kaligandaki river and take lunch here. The red-walled 'Kagchode Thubten Sampheling Gompa' is really exciting to visit. Stay overnight in Kagbeni.
Day 17: Breakfast. Trek about 6 hours to Tukuche (2,600m). In 3 hours trek, we arrive at Jomsom (2,750m), the headquarters of the Mustang district on the way. Take a brief look around Jomsom and lunch. The road passes almost flat and down till Tukuche. We pass by Marpha village on the way where you can see the beautiful apple and apricot gardens from. Stay overnight in Tukuche.
Day 18: Breakfast. Today we walk about 5 hours to Ghasa (2,000m). The trail passes along the bank of Kaligandaki river. Lunch in Kalopani, meaning 'black water'. If the weather allows, you can view the beautiful Nilgiri Peak (6,940m), Dhoaulagiri (8,137m) and Annapurna Himal (8,091m). Stay overnight in Ghasa.
Day 19: Breakfast. Starts about 6 hours trek to Tatopani (1,100m), meaning 'hot water'. Enjoy the natural hot water spring that is believed to be natural treatment to skin disease. Stay overnight in Tatopani.
Day 20: Breakfast. Move ahead for 7 hours uphill to Ghorepani (2,800m) via the beautiful Sikha village where you will have your lunch. Stay overnight in Ghorepani.
Day 21: In the early morning we walk about 45 minutes uphill and arrive at the best view point of Nepal. View the whole range of Mt. Dhoaulagiri, Annapurna and Nilgiri as well as the sunrise. We spend about 45 minutes here and trek back down to Ghorepani. Take breakfast. Trek down about 4 hours to Hile (1,500m) and have Lunch. This is the last food of this Journey.After Lunch about 2 hours trek down to Birethanti (1,100m) where Your brave journey ends here. In about 45 minutes drive, we arrive at Pokhara, the very popular touristy place in Nepal. Stay overnight in Pokhara.
Day 22: Today, you will enjoy your breakfast, lunch and some drinks in nice restaurant at the bank of 'Phewa Lake'. You may make a short tour on your own around lakeside if do not want the whole day rest.
Day 23: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara.
Day 24: Sightseeing/shopping in Kathmandu and farewell dinner.
Day 25: Drop off at the airport and departure for selected destination.
